Introduction:
The Placement of Mahatma Jyotiba Fule College of Social Work, Yavatmal is formed as an essential support mechanism for our students. Sensing the new challenges and opportunities in the fast-changing job market, the committee is committed to delivering in-depth information and assistance to enable the empowerment of students to pursue their career dreams. In line with the University Grants Commission (UGC) and Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University regulations, we make an honest effort to fill the gap between theoretical knowledge and social work professional achievement, developing confident and competent social work professionals.
Aims and Objectives:
- Facilitate Placements: To actively link students with prospective recruiters and arrange effective placement opportunities in relevant social work and allied fields.
- Career Counselling: For delivering personalized and group career counseling to students, helping them determine their strengths, interests, and career aspirations.
- Developing Skills: For conducting workshops, seminars, and training programs that help develop employability skills among students, such as communication skills, problem-solving ability, and professional etiquette.
- Organizational Interface: For developing and maintaining effective contacts with organizations and professionals in the social work sector, creating linkage and internship opportunities.
- Awareness Building: To organize awareness programs regarding the latest job market trends, new career opportunities, and the corresponding professional development programs.
- Resource Provision: To gain access to resources including career libraries, web-based job portals, and knowledge on opportunities for further education.
- Mentorship Programs: To set up and facilitate mentorship programs between students and experienced professionals in the professional area.
- Alumni Involvement: To involve alumni in career counselling and placement activities, using their experiences to the advantage of current students.
- Encouraging Ethical Practices: To impart among students the need for ethical behaviour and social responsibility in their professional lives, in accordance with the social work values.
Programmes/Activities:
- Pre-Placement Training: Organizing workshops and training programs on resume preparation, interview techniques, group discussions, and aptitude tests.
- Placement Drives: Conducting on-campus and off-campus placement drives with authentic organizations and agencies.
- Career Counselling Sessions: One-to-one and group counselling sessions to identify career possibilities, evaluate skills, and create career plans.
- Guest Lectures: Arranging lectures by industry experts and alumni on career prospects, industry trends, and necessary skills.
- Internship Programs: Providing internship programs to students for gaining hands-on experience and creating professional networks.
- Skill Development Workshops: Conducting workshops in communication skills, personality development, time management, and other employability skills.
- Career Fairs: Attending career fairs and job expos to market the college and students to possible employers.
- Industry Visits: Organizing visits to agencies and organizations to give students direct exposure to the workplace.
- Mock Interviews: Providing mock interviews to give students feedback and enhancing their interview skills.
- Alumni Talks: Arranging interactive sessions with alumni to discuss their experiences and insights with present students.
- Information Dissemination: Updating students on a regular basis about job openings, internship opportunities, and career-related events through notice boards, email, and social media.
