General Library Rules of Mahatma Jyotiba Fule College of Social Work, Yavatmal Library

I. General Conduct:

  • Silence: Silence has to be maintained strictly in the library. Discussion, talking, or any other activity causing disturbance to fellow readers is not allowed.
  • Mobile Phones: Mobile phones should be switched off or placed on silent mode inside the library campus. Phone calls are not allowed inside the library.
  • Food and Drink: No food or beverages are allowed inside the library.
  • Cleanliness: Users will be responsible for the upkeep of the library’s cleanliness. Do not litter or hurt library property.
  • Personal Belongings: The library is not liable for damage to or loss of personal belongings. Valuables must not be left behind.
  • Respectful Behaviour: All users are expected to be respectful towards library staff and other users.
  • Intoxication: Admission under the influence of alcohol or any intoxicating substance is not permitted.
  • ID Card Compulsory: A valid college ID card must be displayed for entry and borrowing rights.

II. Library Hours:

Working Hours:

  • The library shall function during the following except holidays: Monday to Friday: 10.00 am to 05.00 pm.
  • The library timings can be altered during examinations, vacations, or special occasions. Advance notice will be given for such changes.

III. Membership and Borrowing:

  1. Eligibility: All Bonafide students, staff, and faculty members of Mahatma Jyotiba Fule College of Social Work, Yavatmal  are eligible to be the library members.
  2. Membership Application: New students will have to apply for library membership at the start of every academic year. Registration requires a valid college ID card.
  3. Borrowing Limit:
  4. Students: 02 books for fifteen days
  5. Faculty Staff: [05] books for one month
  6. (The actual number of books permitted will differ.)
  7. Loan Period: Books are usually issued for Examination Period.
  8. Reference books, periodicals, and journals are normally library use only and are not available for borrowing.
  9. Renewal: Books can be renewed for an additional period if no one has reserved them. Renewal can either be done online or in person, depending on the system of the library.
  10. Overdue Charges: Overdue charges will be imposed on books returned late. The overdue charge rate will be indicated on the library notice board.
  11. Loss or Damage: Loss or damage to books should be reported to the librarian immediately. The borrower will have to replace the book or pay the cost of the book at the time plus processing fees.
  12. Recall: The librarian reserves the right to recall any book at any moment, even prior to the due date.

IV. Book Handling:

  • Handle books carefully.
  • It is not allowed to mark, underline, write upon, or damage books in any form.
  • Do not attempt to repair damaged books yourself. Return them to the library staff for repair.
  • Books must be placed on their respective shelves after use. If you are not certain where a book is to be placed, kindly leave it on the provided trolley or consult the library staff.

V. Library Resources:

  • Reference Section: You may consult a reference section in the library. These books are not for loan.
  • Journals and Periodicals: You have access to current and back issues of periodicals and journals for reading at the library.
  • Newspapers: Newspapers are placed for reading in the designated space.
  • Digital Resources: Access to online databases, e-journals, and e-books may be given by the library. The terms and conditions of use of these resources are expected to be followed by the users.
  • Computers/Internet: Computers could be provided for accessing academic content. The use of computers for unauthorized activities is not allowed.
  • Reprographic Services: Reprographic services (photocopying) could be given at nominal rates.

VI. Library Clearance:

  • All the borrowers have to return all library books and settle any dues before the end of the academic year, prior to submitting the Transfer Certificate application, or prior to leaving the college.
  • “No Dues Certificate” from the library is needed for several purposes, including examination hall tickets, transfer certificates, and convocation.

VII. Rules and Regulations Amendments:

  • The library reserves the right to amend these rules and regulations from time to time. Any changes will be notified on the library notice board and on the college website (if applicable).
  • The decision of the Librarian will be final in all matters relating to the library.
  • Violation of library rules may result in suspension of library privileges.
