The Master of Social Work (MSW) Programme:
- About the Course: The Master of Social Work (MSW) Programme is of two years duration. The programme is be spread over four semesters. The degree of Master of Social Work is equivalent to a professional post-graduate degree in Social Work. The MSW programme is aimed to equip students to work as agents of change from grassroots up to policy levels. It is a recognized qualification for professional positions in governmental, industrial and voluntary sector organizations. This degree equips a student with knowledge, skills and aptitude required to work as Human Resource personnel, Social Welfare Officers, Probation Officers, professionals in the Social Development sector, Rural and Tribal Welfare and Development, Rural and Urban Community Development, organizations for women’s development and empowerment, Counsellors in Family Courts, Correctional Institutions, Youth Development agencies, Geriatric Centres, Medical and Psychiatric Social Workers in Hospitals, officials in Social Défense, Social Work Research, functionaries under the Juvenile Justice System, child rights organizations, ICDS Supervisors, CDPO’s and similar other positions. Post-Graduate degree holders in Social Work are qualified to hold responsible positions in International Organizations like UNO, UNICEF, ILO, and WHO and as Social Work Educators in Universities and Colleges of Social Work. The medium of Instruction shall be Marathi, but the student can choose for her/his medium for exam English, Hindi.
M.S.W.: Department of Community Development
- Vision: Building a base of rational and impartial partner activist for implementing Indian community development policies to achieve the goals of community organization and development strategies through community development education
- Mission: Imparting community development education to develop a practice-based approach to rational thinking and systematic problem solving by developing knowledge, skills and attitudes to work with the community.
- Community Development: This specialization equips social work graduates to work as Community Organisers, Supervisors and Project Officers in community-based organisations working with the underprivileged groups in rural and urban areas. Students will be placed in both urban and rural settings for fieldwork during the second year of training. They will be expected to have a high level of motivation and develop skills to draw peoples’ participation in community work carried out by Government and Non-Government organisations.
- Programme/ Course Outcomes:
- The learners of community development specialized course will gain knowledge of economics of urban areas from human development perspectives.
- The learners will acquire the knowledge of structure, nature, culture and problems and issues of Rural, Urban Community.
- The learners develop understanding for analyzing and critically examining need and trust of Rural, Urban and Tribal Community.
- Gain knowledge of Urban local self-Governance’s structure, function and working in view of 74th Constitutional amendment.
- Learner studies in details livelihood system which includes Employment, Poverty, Food security, financial exclusion, Agriculture, Health, Energy, Environment, Livestock and Cropping pattern and water resources.
- The learners of community development student in understand and study concept, characteristics, demography and types of tribes in Maharashtra and India. They also learned about Tribal culture and marriage system.
- Student develop critical understanding of Tribal Economic system based on their, forest economics. This includes, Forest goods, Recent legal provision, Goods exchange method and Joint Forest management
- Learners acquire knowledge about issues and its relating agencies. They receive appropriate knowledge, Housing, Urban sanitization, clean cities index, Urban plantation, Transportation, traffic system, West management recycling, Role of HUDCO, MHADA, Slum rehabilitation agencies and Town Planning.
- Specialized course will gain knowledge of economics of urban areas from human development perspectives.
M.S.W.: – Department of Human Resource Management:
Vision: The vision is to provide the knowledge and information about HRM to the students through theory and practical.
Mission: HRM specialisation has been functioning in view of making the students inspired in service to industrial sector and hence HRM aims education through Fieldwork practice & Research in Industrial sector.
- Human Resource Management: This specialization is concerned with the human resources and the dynamic situations in industry. It is an essential qualification for the post of Labour Welfare Officers under the Factories Act, 1948. The specialization equips the graduates to work as Personnel Officers and HR Executives in the Public / Private /Service sector. Students will be placed in industrial organizations for fieldwork during the Second Year of training.
